FiBrane

Ultrapure water production is crucial for offshore green hydrogen generation, yet its success hinges on variables like heat availability, water quality, and system efficiency – factors that pose challenges in offshore settings. FiBrane offers a groundbreaking solution to bridge this technological gap. Our ultrapure water (UPW) system is designed to operate solely on waste heat from green hydrogen production processes, guaranteeing both economical and efficient operation without sacrificing performance.

Why?

FiBrane addresses the challenge of efficiently producing ultrapure water, essential for green hydrogen production. Traditional desalination methods face high costs, complex maintenance, and heavy consumable use, especially in offshore settings. FiBrane stands out with its innovative approach, significantly reducing UPW production costs by up to 70%. This solution is specifically designed for offshore settings, where conventional technologies struggle. By streamlining the desalination process, FiBrane offers a cost-effective, low-maintenance alternative, making it a game-changer for the green hydrogen industry.

We make ultrapure water production effortless and cost-effective for offshore green hydrogen industry. Keeping it simple, hassle-free, and economical is our goal.

FiBrane

How?

FiBrane's technology is specifically designed to be compatible with the constraints of offshore platforms, where space and resource limitations are significant. By offering a compact and robust solution that can withstand challenging marine conditions, FiBrane ensures a reliable and continuous UPW supply essential for efficient hydrogen production.
Our system employs a two-step process: a thermally driven membrane process followed by a simple polishing step. This method stands out for its simplicity, energy efficiency, and effectiveness in harsh offshore environments.

In essence, FiBrane creates value by enabling cost-effective and sustainable UPW production for the burgeoning offshore green hydrogen market. This contributes to the global effort of decarbonization and supports the transition towards cleaner energy sources, aligning with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and aiding in the pursuit of a carbon-neutral future.

Fun fact

The concept of FiBrane originated from the Horizon 2020 Project Ô, dedicated to advancing the circular water economy.

Greatest success

Our team's most notable accomplishment was achieving a technological breakthrough by successfully demonstrating the direct conversion of seawater into UPW. This pivotal milestone garnered support from Spinout Denmark and the VILLUM P2X Accelerator, marking a significant step forward for our startup.

Biggest failure

Our most enlightening mistake was underestimating the shift from an academic to a business mindset. This realization prompted us to refine our development approach, highlighting the value of industry feedback, strategic business planning, and collaborative efforts.
